Because the assessment deals with many industries, the questionnaire must be tailored to address the peculiarities of each of these industries. That is why the industries that will take part in the assessment have been defined into set categories:
The Oil and Gas industry of Saudi Arabia comprises a number of of companies involved in the upstream (exploration, development and production of crude oil or natural gas) and downstream oil sectors (oil tankers, refiners, retailers and consumers), as well as the pipeline and oil and gas service and supply sectors.
The utilities Industry in Saudi Arabia is a collection of companies such as gas and power companies in Saudi Arabia. The sector involves companies such as electric, gas and water firms, and integrated providers.
The basic materials sector groups companies involved in the discovery, development and processing of raw materials, including mining and refining companies, chemical producers and producers of forestry products.
The construction & engineering sector is a category of companies involved in the construction of infrastructure, as well as commercial and residential buildings.
The Industrial goods and services sector joins companies involved in producing goods used in construction and manufacturing, aerospace and defense, industrial machinery, tools, lumber production, construction, waste management, manufactured housing, cement and metal fabrication.

The retail and consumer services industry consists of companies engaged in selling consumer goods or services to customers through multiple channels of distribution such as food products, hard or durable goods, and soft goods or consumables. Consumer goods involve food production, packaged goods, clothing production, beverage production, and also include automobiles and electronics.
The technology, media and telecom sector includes a wide range of companies, involved in communications related businesses such as phones, TVs, Internet service providers (ISPs) , computers (both software and hardware), networking companies, and media.
The transportation industry consists of companies engaged in the transportation of goods or customers. The transportation sector is made up of airline, railroad and trucking companies.
The healthcare industry involves companies affiliated with medical and healthcare goods or services. The healthcare sector includes hospital management firms, health maintenance organizations (HMOs), biotechnology and a variety of medical products.

Conglomerates & diversified industries involve companies engaged in a wide array of business activities that often cross over to numerous industries and engaged in entirely different businesses.
The banking industry consists of financial institutions providing commercial banking services , such as accepting deposits and issuing loans, and a wide a range of investment products that commercial banks offer like savings accounts, certificates of deposits, business loans, and mortgages.
